Electronic Waste Reduction
Each year, $91 billion worth of electronics is thrown into landfills worldwide.
- 2022 UN Report
Electronic waste, or e-waste, has become a significant environmental problem across the globe. With the rapid pace of technological advancement and consumer demand for the latest gadgets, we discard vast quantities of usable electronics. Moreover, recycling this technology is difficult due to the complex design of modern technology and the usage of hazardous materials. ReTech aims to keep old technology from the landfill by giving it a second life. By cleaning, upgrading, and resetting a laptop’s hardware and software, we can extend the life of laptops by several years.
Bridging the Gap in Digital Education
17% of children ages 3-18 live without a computer. At least 11 million students don't have a computer for online learning.
- National Center for Education Statistics
In an increasingly digital world, students without adequate technology are at a disadvantage. ReTech for Kids aims to address the digital divide by collecting and refurbishing old electronic devices and then distributing them to children in underserved communities. ReTech works with local schools, community centers, and nonprofits to identify children in need and ensure they receive the tools necessary for their education.
